UK will not quarantine visitors from France after agreement struck

The UK has officially exempted France from the 14-day quarantine which is set to be imposed on all air travellers.

Incoming passengers from countries around the world except France will be asked to quarantine themselves for 14 days at a private residence.

During a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron, Boris Johnson agreed that the measures for the quarantine would not be extended to France.

This follows a step by France to exempt UK travellers from its own quarantine measures.

French and British officials are said to be working together to ensure free-flow of air passengers between France and the UK as the next phase of the lockdown is eased in both countries.

France from today is relaxing lockdown measures but the UK is still not seeing a sufficient drop in infections to do the same.

In a Sunday address, Boris Johnson discussed the next phases of the lockdown, saying that restrictions would remain in place for many businesses well into the summer – and the lockdown would be eased only if progress was made.
