Iconic woollen mill AW Hainsworth have published their first Sustainability Report, detailing the comprehensive projects the company continue to deliver to place sustainability at the heart of the business. Following the heightened awareness of the need for sustainability across their full remit of diverse markets, the company has taken the step to publish the 56 page report to not only demonstrate their impressive credentials and reassure stake holders of their commitment, but also with an aim to inspire others to follow suit.
A historic woollen mill and Royal Warrant holder, AW Hainsworth have been weaving globally recognised iconic cloth for 8 generations. “As a family business we have always followed an ethos of fairness and equality, as well as a commitment to the environment and the community,” says Diane Simpson, Director at AW Hainsworth, “The ever growing requirement for sustainability is something that the business was naturally aligned with before the growing demands from our markets. The Sustainability Report was generated to easily and concisely show our inherent dedication to being a sustainable business”
“It is increasingly important for businesses to be able to quickly demonstrate their ability to achieve sustainability, with a growing number of businesses from all global markets opting to move away from suppliers, partners and customers that do not meet their own sustainability goals,” continues Diane. “This Sustainability Report really allows our stakeholders to truly understand the valuable work undertaken not only by the business itself but also by individual employees, this allows them to feel secure with their own sustainable decision making and strengthen their own positioning”
“To us, true sustainability is a full 360 degree effort; our diverse approach to sustainability not only covers the more obvious environmental issues of manufacture, but has a large focus on people and communities. Education and opportunity combined with a work life balance open the doors to individuals finding their own path to achieving sustainability which is an extremely important focus for us.” Says Andrew Wright Non-Executive Chairman of AW Hainsworth
